This year we have calendared a number of ‘blue weeks’ for our students.
Blue weeks coincide with a period of assessment and so during these weeks, in order to provide balance, we are asking teachers not to set homework.
Instead, we will be encouraging the students to engage in activities that promote their wellbeing, both physical and mental.
Our first blue week is the week beginning 8th October 2018. Future blue weeks will take place in the weeks beginning 11th February 2019, 18th March 2019, 13th May 2019 and 1st July 2019.
This is an opportunity for students to use the time that they would normally be doing homework of an evening to do something different.
What to do...
On at the Odeon Cinema in Southend (w/b 8th October)is:
Johnny English Strikes Again (PG)

He’s Britain’s last, best hope of tracking down the mastermind hacker. But with precious few skills and no grasp of modern technology whatsoever, it’s going to be his most dangerous mission yet.
The House with a Clock in Its Walls (12A)
Tells the tale of 10-year-old Lewis, an orphan who is sent to live with his Uncle Jonathan in a creaky old house. His new home is far from ordinary and soon reveals a secret world of warlocks and witches. Lewis must join his uncle on a quest to discover the source of a mysterious ticking within its walls.
For each blue week there will be suggestions of things that you can do. Watch this space in the weeks leading up to blue week.
